Bloomington, Indiana – A 14-year-old girl, Jamiyah Mayfield, has died in what family members and neighbors describe as a case of alleged abuse and neglect.
According to reports, Jamiyah was found dead in her home on July 1st.
Neighbors noted unusual behavior in the days prior, including the silent arrival of emergency responders and families moving out.
A woman named Mahogany Wallace, who lives nearby, shared a viral post about the situation.
She later removed the post after being contacted by law enforcement, who stated it was affecting an ongoing investigation.
Wallace also reported receiving a threat related to the post. She confirmed passing information to authorities.
Jamiyah’s family has since created a GoFundMe to assist her mother, Vona Starks, with burial expenses.
The fundraiser states that Jamiyah was the firstborn daughter and that the family is seeking support to give her a proper burial.
Law enforcement has not yet released full details. No official charges have been announced at this time.
The case remains under investigation.
