The national youth organizer for ruling New Patriotic Party, Sammy Awuku has stressed that the newly elected Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin is not a mischievous character and shouldn’t scare the NPP.
There have been great concerns by party faithful of the NPP concerning the election of Right Honourable Bagbin as the Speaker of the 8th parliament.
Lots of people believe that his election as speaker will affect the Akufo Addo led administration considering his membership to the opposition party, NDC.
In an interview with Joy News after the swearing-in ceremony of President Akufo Addo and Vice President Bawumia, Sammy Awuku indicated that Right Honourable Bagbin has come a long way in politics to dent his image by playing partisan.
He believes that Bagbin is an experienced politician in parliament and would understand issues that focus on development rather than encourage partisanship.
He said; “I hope that the Almighty God will grant him infinite wisdom for him to deliver on this mandate.
I don’t see Hon. Bagbin(Speaker) as a mischievous character. This is someone who has distinguished himself in Parliament for almost three decades to the admiration of all. If he continues with the way he’s started I’m convinced that he’ll prove his sceptics and fiercest critics wrong that he’s there to do the job of the Ghanaians people and not to do the job of a partisan group.”
