Former member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Stephen Atubiga has expressed his desire to make former president John Dramani Mahama the flagbearer of his newly founded party, National Liberation Congress.
According to him, the party is a replica of the NDC founded on the same values of which John Mahama leads.
Speaking to Kwasi Adoma Nwanwani on Angel FM, he said his party is an integration of disgruntled members of the NDC who have felt neglected and unsatisfied with the party’s actions.
Atubiga further expressed his support for John Mahama indicating how he’s had to hold on to publishing his book because of how it could affect the fortunes of Mahama and the NDC.
He said he wished John Mahama wins the 2024 polls or never contests at all so he can go ahead to publish his book.
“I am unable to publish my fifth book because of the shame it will bring to my party [NDC]. I am hoping that John Mahama will win the election so I can unveil it, or that he will not run for President again because it will affect him.”
“The book covers my relationship with Jerry John Rawlings, my conversations with him before his death, his statements about the party, why he didn’t want the NDC to win the 2020 elections, all with evidences,” he added while speaking to Kofi Adoma Nwanwani on the show.
