Asante Kotoko team doctor gives update on Ganiyu’s injury

Kumasi Asante Kotoko team Doctor, Dr. Twumasi has provided an update onow the injury to defender Abdul Ganiyu

Speaking to fox Sports, Dr. Twumasi , who is the egad of medical staff at Asante Kotoko, spoke about the extent of Ganiyu’s ligament tear and the road to recovery.

“Abdul Ganiu is a Kotoko player who got injured around July. We took scans and saw the ligament joining the knee was torn and the bone also broken. We contacted our partners in Germany, they came for all the images we took including new ones they requested,he said

Ganiu’s injury comes as a big blow to the porcupine warriors as they prepare to face San Pedro of Ivory Coast in their final qualification stage ahead of this season’s CAF Confederations Cup tournament.

He also spoke about what has been holding the surgery up all this time.

“I have been talking to Ganiu from time to time, by God’s grace we are at the tail end of the process for the surgery. We will receive the bill for the surgery this week, it could even be today and will check my email soon,”he added.

“So very soon the surgery will be done because I have always been in contact with the player.”

“We need the player and we want him back even sooner than any other person.”

“I’m not aware he is apply local medicine and I don’t believe he is applying local medicine.”

“As soon as we receive the bill from the hospital in Germany we will do for him just as we did for (Richard) Senanu”,he concluded.

It will be recalled that midfielder Richard Senanu suffered a similar long term injury and is still recovering but expected to return soon.

Kotoko face San Pedro in Kumasi on October 27 with the return leg on November 3.
