Ghanaian rap heavyweight Solomon Adu Antwi best known as Yaa Pono has stated that names doesn’t necessarily impact an artiste’s brand.

The rapper made this assertion in an interview with Radio Central’s Amansan Krakye.

Host Amansan Krakye queried Yaa Pono on whether his name has had an impact on his brand over the years. In response to his question, Yaa Pono stated that he hasn’t been affected by his choice of name in the music industry.

He made instances of other artistes like Obrafour, Tic and others who have had different meanings being read into their names but have managed to build a solid brand for themselves over the years. He indicated that people are more interested in the end product of the artiste which is his/her music rather than the name. He stated;

“Oh no my name hasn’t affected me in anyway. I was even the brand ambassador for my bet. So I don’t think that comes in because the art is what people need not necessarily your name. The influence that you can give the people is what they want not the name”.
