Apologize or no call-up – Kwesi Appiah tells KP Boateng

Boateng was sacked from the Ghana camp at the 2014 World Cup1

Ghana head coach Kwesi Appiah has revealed that he is ready to hand another call-up to KP Boateng after a four-year absence from national assignment but on a condition.

The Black Stars head coach has told KP Boateng to apologize for his ‘role in the debacle’ during the 2014 World cup to earn a call-up.

The Sassuolo forward together with Sulley Muntari were axed from the Black Stars camp during the 2014 World Cup in Brazil after they portrayed gross insubordination due to unpaid appearance fees before the final group game against Portugal.

“Kevin-Prince Boateng is a Ghanaian and has been playing well for Sassuolo this season so I will hope to hand him a call-up one day but there is a condition,” Appiah told Nhyira FM.

“After the 2014 Fifa World Cup, the Commission of Inquiry set up by the government recommended that he and Sulley Muntari must publicly apologize for their role in the debacle.

Black Stars will play against Kumasi Asante Kotoko in a friendly match on Friday, October 12, 2018, at the Baba Yara Sports stadium.
