Anne Heche: Actress dies after being pulled off life support

Anne Heche

Anne Heche, an American actress who came to recognition portraying twins Vicky Hudson and Marley Love on the soap opera Another World, has died.

Her death was announced by her friend Nancy Davis on Instagram and confirmed by her family to The Guardian.

The 53 year old actress had been hospitalized at the Grossman Burn Center at West Hills hospital north of Los Angeles after a horror crash on August 5.

Yesterday, a representative for her loved ones confirmed she was brain dead and was only being kept alive on life support so that doctors could harvest her organs for donation.

‘We want to thank everyone for their kind wishes and prayers for Anne’s recovery and thank the dedicated staff and wonderful nurses that cared for Anne at the Grossman Burn Center at West Hills hospital.’

‘Unfortunately, due to her accident, Anne Heche suffered a severe anoxic brain injury and remains in a coma, in critical condition. She is not expected to survive.’

Many had hoped Heche would make a recovery after a publicist for the actor reported her in a “stable” condition after crashing her car into a house in Los Angeles on 5 August. Firefighters said she had been speaking to them as she was cut free of the wreckage and taken to hospital.

But the actor shortly afterwards lost consciousness and on 8 August representatives posted an update, saying Heche was in an “extreme critical condition” and had slipped into a coma. On Friday, her family said in a statement that she was not expected to survive and that she was being kept on life support to determine if her organs could be donated.
