A Lafitte man was killed Sunday morning on the Crescent City Connection onramp, when his car veered into the path of another vehicle, according to the Louisiana State Police.
Police said 69-year-old Andrew Perrin was driving a 2016 Toyota Corolla toward the Crescent City Connection from the General DeGaulle Drive onramp at around 9 a.m., when he crossed all eastbound lanes and entered the path of a 2021 Kia Telluride.
The Kia struck the left side of Perrin’s Toyota and both vehicles ran off the road and struck the cement barrier, police said.
Perrin was seriously injured and taken to a local hospital, where he was declared dead.
The driver of the Kia suffered minor injuries. Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts, according to police.
The cause of the accident is under investigation. Routine toxicology samples were taken from both drivers, police said.
