A minor and an adult identified as Andray Brown have died and several others were hospitalized after a large mobile home collapsed Sunday afternoon, according to the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office.
It happened on County Road 42 about five miles north of Angleton in Brazoria County.
Around 5:03 p.m., the sheriff’s office said they got a call saying a mobile home that was in the process of being leveled collapsed.
According to BCSO, family members working on the home were reported to be trapped underneath the structure. Multiple agencies responded to the scene.
The sheriff’s office said it is possible some jack equipment may have failed.
Five people were rescued from beneath the structure. Four were transported by helicopter to Houston-area hospitals in critical condition and another person was transported to an area hospital and is stable.
BCSO said a 17-year-old boy 31-year-old Andray Brown died as a result of the collapse.
According to BCSO, they had to use a chainsaw to cut through the floor of the home to get one of the victims.
The incident is being investigated by the sheriff’s office.
