Renowned American actor and political activist, Danny Glover is currently in Ghana .
The actor who arrived with a delegation of National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) for ‘Jamestown to Jamestown’ event few hours ago, joins a tall list of famous persons from the diaspora who have made that all important trip to the motherland to remember 400 years since Africans were first shipped to the Americas to work as slaves, in what is known as the most egregious chapter in the history of the continent.
Already, the likes of Steve Harvey ,Naomi Campbell, Boris Kodjoe, Idris Elba, Bozoma St John, Edward Enninful, Anthony Anderson, EBRO, Samuel L. Jackson among others have made the all-important trip to the country, and more people are expected in what many predict will be a mass exodus back to Ghana.
‘Jamestown to Jamestown’ is part of activities to mark the Year of Return. This year is exactly 400 years since the first black slaves landed in Jamestown Virginia in the US.
NAACP leaders, activists and entertainers will travel from Jamestown, Virginia, to Jamestown, Accra to commemorate the Year of Return.
