Speaking at the maiden edition of the African Women’s Sports Summit, Ms. Tsabalala of Supersport fame stressed the need for young female journalists to find the correct balance in their line of work.
Ms Tsabalala, who became the first African to host a FIFA balon d’or ceremony in 2011 shared her experience throughout her career and revealed touching details of some of the challenges she faced.
She urged all the participants to find the correct balance in their line of duty and remain focus in whatever they do.
“Always be professional. You need to find a balance and be aware of your boundaries,” she said.
Furthermore, she spoke on what has driven her throughout her career and got her where she is.
“I wasn’t compared to any other person so it was not a challenge for me to focus on me or to be like someone else,”she said.
“I always knew I was going to succeed at whatever career I found myself. That was my drive,” she added.
Ms Tsabalala, had overcome many hurdles in her career and is a mother of 3. She also spoke about how she had to end an abusive marriage free 6 years in 2006. When asked how she combines raising her children with her career, She stated that her sons’ affection for football helped a lot.
“It easier for me to find the balance between family and sports because my sons love football, “,Ms Carol said.
