Eastpointe, Michigan — Police have identified the suspect accused of fatally stabbing McDonald’s manager Jennifer Harris as Afeni Muhammad (Risen Phoenix) , an employee who reportedly had a heated dispute with Harris the day before the attack.
Jennifer Harris, 39, a mother of six, was killed on Thursday morning inside the McDonald’s restaurant where she had worked for over a decade.
According to police, Harris was stabbed multiple times by Afeni Muhammad, following a workplace argument that allegedly began the day prior.
What Led to the Attack?
Investigators say Muhammad was involved in a heated disagreement with Harris during a shift and was sent home early.
The following day, she returned to the McDonald’s on 9 Mile Road in Eastpointe wearing a face mask and allegedly armed with a knife.
Muhammad then reportedly stabbed Harris in front of customers inside the restaurant.
A customer in the drive-thru witnessed the attack and fired a warning shot in the air to stop the assault. That customer, who legally carried a firearm, then chased the suspect down and held her at gunpoint until police arrived.
Instagram Videos Revealed Possible Motive

Before the stabbing, Afeni Muhammad posted two videos on Instagram expressing frustration with her manager. In the videos, she claimed that Harris frequently sent her home and bullied her at work. She also alleged that Harris tried to intimidate her by saying she had once pulled a firearm near her children.
In one of the videos, Muhammad stated:
“She think she a big dog… Something needs to be done.”
On the day of the incident, Muhammed allegedly posted “not again” to social media, along with laughter, just before the fatal encounter.
