Algeria have qualified to the next round of the competition after defeating Senegal 1-0 at the 30 June stadium in Cairo.
The desert foxes continued their brilliant start to the tournament after beating Senegal in the Group C top liner.
The inexperience of Kouyate in the center back role showed in the early stages of the game as he struggled to keep up with Bounedjah, who was leading the line for Algeria.
On the other side though, the threat of Sadio Mane on Senegal’s left hand side was always something the Algerians worried about.
The tactical nature of the game however led to a rather slow first half as both managers kept their cards close to their chest and didn’t want to give anything away to the opponent.
Algeria started the second half the better side with Feghouli having an effort go just wide off the post.
Minutes later his cut back was met by Youcef Belaili who riffled in a shot from just inside the area to give Algeria the lead.
Senegal threw on Mame Biram Diouf in the second half but it was too little too late as the Desert foxes held on to the win.
The win means Algeria have qualified to the next round of the competition with a game to spare
In the other group C game, Kenya had to come back from behind twoce before scoring a late winner in their East African Derby against Tanzania
Michael Olunga produced an outstanding display as he scored the first equalizer and then the winning goal to seal it for the Harembee stars.
Madagascar and Burundi faced off in the outstanding group B game.
Ilaimaharitra’s 76th minute free kick gave all 3 points to Madagascar as they move second in group B and increase their chances of qualification.
