Adwoa Sarfo’s ‘soft vetting’ was as a result of health considerations – Mahama Ayariga

The Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, Honourable Mahama Ayariga has explained the reason for the appointment committee of parliament’s soft vetting gender minister-designate, honourable Adwoa Sarfo.

According to him, they considered her based on her health grounds.

Adwoa Sarfo faced the appointment committee of parliament on Wednesday in a one-hour vetting.

Speaking to Eye Witness News on why her vetting was rather shorter than expected, the Bawku Central MP explained that the panel learnt that she had put to bed not too long and should have given her some time off the process but failed to do so.

They in turn didn’t want to go hard on her since she was not in a good place as far as her health was concerned.

He added that she was also a member of the committee before her appointment and as such, was aware of their proceedings, helping to make their job easier.

“Before she came, we discovered that she had just delivered and so naturally, we felt that somebody who has just delivered, maybe we should have postponed her vetting, and we didn’t postpone it because we just got the information.

“We tend to know her track record because she was a former member of the Appointments Committee. She was a leader of the House immediately preceding her most recent nomination,” he said.
