Over one thousand persons have been served dismissal letters following the takeover of unibank by Consolidated Bank Ghana Limited.
A document from Topp Recruitment an agency that provided bullion, teller and security services to defunct unibank and sighted by ghlinks.com.gh reveals its services with the bank have been revoked by the new owners invariably implying that staff will be laid off as a result.
Inside sources told ghlinks.com.gh that the number of staff Topp Recruitment deployed to provide services to the bank prior to its collapse is running into a little over a thousand across the entire country.
The letter signed by one Richard Justice Baidoo who is the General Manager of the company which is a subsidiary of House of Duffuor Assets (HODA) Holdings reads “Management of Topp Recruitment Ghana Limited wishes to inform all staff members as a matter of urgency regarding the official communication from the receiver f’uniBank Ghana Limited on the termination of our contract with uniBank Ghana Limited effective 28th August 2018 as per Section [131] (1) of the Banks and Specialized Deposit – Taking Institutions Act. 20|6 (Act 930). As per the foregoing, no staff of Topp Recruitment Ghana Limited should report for duty at any branch of Consolidated Bank Ghana Limited from September 1, 2018.
All staff members operating within Greater Accra region and Kasoa are thus mandated to attend an emergency staff meeting to be held at the premises of Topp Holdings Ghana Limited, Asylum Down on September 3. 2m at exactly 8:00 am”
Gh Links investigations confirmed the meeting came off as scheduled and staff were asked to stay home whiles a severance package is prepared for them as part of their conditions.
