A woman who was part of a funeral procession was shot and killed in Dixmoor Saturday afternoon.
Dixmoor police said the shooting happened just after noon at the intersection of 147th and Seeley Street.
When officers arrived, they found a white Jaguar SUV that had crashed into a home. Inside the vehicle was a woman, 34-year-old Rhomesha Turner, who appeared to have been shot multiple times.
Police said Turner was part of a funeral procession that had just left St. Mark’s Church in Harvey.
Turner was taken to Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey where she died, according to investigators.
Police added the incident appears to be isolated.
The Dixmoor Police Department, with assistance from the Illinois State Police, is conducting an ongoing investigation.
